While the 2008 edition of the Office 2.0 Conference is still going on, we're already starting to plan for the next one. For the first three editions, we've done everything in less than 2 months, as a way to prove that Office 2.0 tools and the GTD can significantly increase productivity. Today, I think we made our point, and moving forward, we'd like to take the event to the next level, especially with respect to the quality of the online infrastructure we're building to support it. As a result, we decided to give ourselves a full year to organize the 2009 edition. At present time, we're looking at Monday through Wednesday, September 21-23, 2009. Please let us know if you can think of any other event taking place at the same time, or close to it.
First of all, Ismael, thank you for a most interesting and enjoyable event. The sessions and networking were great and the wifi was brilliant.
Second of all, a longer planning period holds the potential of a better programme and more delegates. In both cases because planning windows for good people are often longer than two months. Not so bad if you happen to live fairly near San Francisco because you could 'pop in' to give a session, for example. But the visit becomes a bit more of a problem for delegates, especially when long distance travel is involved: in my case (for example), I knew the networking would be good, but I really needed an agenda to justify the time away from my regular work and, of course, the associated expense.
Earlier visibility would have made planning easier and might have sucked in more delegates. IMHO. It would also have given you more publicity as we could have blogged more concrete reasons for attending.
Looking forward to watching next year's event unfold.
