Mr. Gillespie provides strategic and legal advice to software, new media and technology companies.
He helps his early stage clients build their value while avoiding common pitfalls and maximizing options for liquidity through careful management of their technology development, distribution, and strategic deals.
For larger companies, he helps structure, draft and negotiate key deals, including national and international development and distribution deals, licenses, and strategic alliances.
He also manages the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including as lead outside IP counsel for Symantec in its acquisition of Veritas, the largest software merger in history, and on most of Symantec's acquisitions over the past several years. In addition, he has significant experience in open source business models and export control regulations.
